>> okay. >> was arrested again, early this morning in new york. >> here's what -- this is what reports say happened. at 2 a.m., she was driving around in a porsche and they say she clipped someone, a pedestrian who was walking. >> in the median. >> he was taken to the hospital and released without any visible injuries, we should point out. meantime, after she allegedly hit him, she went to a nearby hotel. i guess the guy who claims he hit her called the cops. and they went in there and they -- >> they -- arrested here. >> for leaving the scene of an accident i think is what they got her for. so, she was issued a deck appearance ticket and released without bail. they say -- the police are saying no alcohol was involved but they could trigger a probation violation in her jewelry theft case, remember that? one of the clauses of that is that she obey all laws. >> here is the thing no matter what happened it could have been one of those things she hit the guy and he smacked the side of her car and got upset and decided he found out it was lindsey. but i think in a case like this, she probably shouldn't be driving at 2 a.m.
>> she can afford a taxi or a driver, 2:00 again in the morning. my mother always said nothing good happens after 12:00. >> did she? >> you're right. nothing good happens after midnight. >> maybe she is just reacting to what she happened to see dr. phil the day before. >> that was so weird. >> saw that train wreck. >> you know what -- >> triggered all kinds of childhood memories or something. i don't know. >> you might be right. you might be right. >> poor thing, honesty. with parents that are so dysfunctional, we should not be surprised when children are. >> i have to say, billy bush interviewed lindsay lohan's dad -- >> michael. >> after watching that interview. billy put his feet to the fire i thought he did a great job with him. commented on how michael lohan was laughing watching the dr. phil interview and he said this wasn't a laughing matter, it was a serious matter. it was sad. anyway, the whole family has got a bunch of issues clearly. all right.

smartwater, we understand the home cooking. so rhode island schools are trying something. >> one school. >> one school. >> we hope it doesn't catch on. >> anyway, they want to ban father/daughter dances and mother/son activities because they say it violates their state's gender discrimination law. there was a single mom in one of the schools who complained about it. and they -- and they decided to ban them in that school. you know, i think something interesting, like i don't know what the single mom's motivation was and maybe when it was a father/daughter thing and her child didn't have the father, you feel terrible and you know all the other kids are there with their dads and they are dancing and you don't have that. and i can kind of see where it would make a kid feel terrible if they don't have a mom -- with half the families, you know, being fractured now. >> i understand. i do get that, but at the same time, a majority of people do have a father or a mother usually. and so they lose out on having a
beautiful experience together. >> and maybe they could do something like just bring a very special person. >> bring a special person, if you can't bring your mother, bring your grandma. something like that why should everybody have to miss out on an activity because it offends one person? . you could probably work it out. there's a way to work that out, don't you think? >> one would think. doesn't seem like we are able to work out anything anymore. have you noticed that? >> no, we can. we can. >> i think we can. >> if you liquor it up a little, everybody is happy. >> i don't think they want to. there is a bar, by the way, that offers pregnancy tests. high-end pub in minnesota, pub 500, swipe your credit card in a pregnancy pub dispenser fastened to the wall in the restroom. >> why do you want a pregnancy test in a bar? >> maybe they don't want to drink if they think they're pregnant. maybe they don't want to go to a drugstore, have somebody seeing them buying it. maybe they are -- i don't know. >> so, you're getting the pregnancy test and taking it in the bar. >> not me, hoda, installed by

along the way, the sexual abuse, the suicide attempt. somehow you ended up giving birth to the most famous person on the planet. it is interesting to know people are reading your words out there. >> excited to hear reactions, a few people that read it really inspired them. >> so that's why i wrote it. just to know that you don't have to stay stuck in your pain. and i know other people's stories helped me. >> justin wrote the forward, we know that but you told me when we first got together that you tried tell him almost all of this stuff before you decided to write the book. is there anything now that you've shared in that book that he's upset about or you wish you may be had held back? are you still feeling really good about it? >> not that i know of. he read the book and he wrote the forward and he has been super supportive, i know it was hard for him to read some painful parts. but he's been really supportive.
>> you can actually see your bond in the piece you two did together. it was when he was singing to you, it was a small little tiny portion of the spot but it really touched so many people. people were tearing up watching it. i think we have a little clip of that. let's watch that. ♪ when you're broken in two let my love take you higher and i will help you ♪ . >> how does it feel hearing that watching that? >> oh, who doesn't want somebody singing to them, especially your own child? oh, he's just amazing. >> we will just keep watching it. >> it's -- i have an amazing son. >> you told the story and kath was telling me about this at the dream center, you went and spoke to some women who may have been in your similar situation, they didn't know you were justin bieber's mom at the time. tell us about that.
>> well, i had been to the dream center once before and i wanted to take a tour of it because i was so inspired by it and just seeing the different parts of it you know, women's recovery, men's recovery, sex trafficking, teen discipleship, sex trafficking, they just have all these amazing parts of it. >> extraordinary. >> i went there on a tour matthew barnett the founder and pastor there, he just introduced me to the women's recovery center as -- as his friend patty. >> mm-hmm. >> and so they had -- there was three of them and they each -- there was a whole bunch of them but three of them told their story and shared a bit of their story and there they were really moving, painful stories and when they were done, they thanked me for coming and they were going to go about their day.
and i said, could i share a bit of -- a bit of my story with you guys? and they said, sure. and so, you know, i went into how i was abandoned, you know, when i was younger and the abuse and the suicide attempt and all that stuff and when i got through telling them how i had come through it, i just said and now i stand before you here as justin bieber's mom. >> wow. >> and they were just so moved. not because -- i don't think they cared who justin bieber was, but just to know that there's hope, you know? >> and you found that hope through a friend who taught you that god loved you, right? and you didn't think anybody could really love you. we only have a little bit of time left. tell us about that. >> about the man? >> yeah. what it was like, that moment when you were ready to kill yourself and then discovered, no, i have a reason to live? >> yeah. um, i had this amazing man come

>> it's a different type of love. it really is. and it's just so true, motherhood is the greatest job in the world. it is the greatest honor in the world. >> you ended up freezing eggs? >> yeah. >> what you guys did after you found out? >> we did i was going through ivf, i found out i had breast cancer, we had to kind of freeze the eggs and figure out our plan and once i went through my surgeries and i could kind of think straight again that is when we moved ahead with the surrogate because i'm on medication right now for the next four and a half years. >> the tamoxifen? >> tamoxifen. >> sure. right. >> not fun. >> you don't have any of the bad side effects? >> i don't. i'm very, very fortunate i don't have the side effects so far, so good it is funny, i don't look at it as oh, i'm taking a drug every night, which kind of did at the beginning, now i look at it as positive, i'm taking something that could save my life. and i think that changes things a little bit. >> now you have even more reason to want to have a long life. >> absolutely. >> want to see every milestone in little duke's life. >> i appreciate it now. >> you want women, young girls, to make sure they are very aware of breast cancer. tell us about that.
>> absolutely. hoda, you know this. >> yeah. >> what is unbelievable about breast cancer is if you find it early you have a 98% survival rate. five-year survival rate. that's huge! >> that is enormous. >> when i heard i had breast cancer, i immediately thought death sentence. i thought, oh, my god, i can't believe i'm gonna die and if you find it early you can survive and you have a high chance of survival. so the key is early detection. it is finding it early. >> tell the ladies what they need to do. >> okay. well, tomorrow is do it for the girls day, which is very exciting so we are rallying women everywhere, give yourself a self-exam in the shower, wherever you want it takes 30 seconds. i can do it. i will do it for anyone in the studio today. they're like no thanks. but it's so easy to do. takes 30 seconds. it can save your life. >> get your mammograms. >> talk to your doctor, what am i supposed to be doing. >> this one lit from inside or what?

movies hold up. i never would have thought it at the time. it's amazing really. but i mean, i was looking that the one thing from "st. elmo's fire" and i remember that incident like it was yesterday, doing that take. yeah. >> it is funny, you were part of the brat pack but you, yourself, are a loner. >> a little more solitary than that. one of those strange ironies i was lumped in. now it's come to represent a really affectionate thing, the brat pack. it's a nice thing. >> you had an experience on the subway the other night. >> i did. i was on the subway. a woman was kind of looking at me. i thought oh, great. i knew i had a long way to go. finally she got up and kind of smiled at me. i'm smiling back politely hoping to crawl under the car. she got up and she said, "you know, my husband just died two months ago. this is the first time i've smiled." and it just program my heart. we ended up hugging each other on the subway car. >> you mean something to people. >> really those movies really
touched something in a generation of people that. had a big effect on me. >> let's talk about your book a little bit. >> yeah. >> some people are calling it sort of the "eat, pray you love" for guys, the male set. >> i don't know if it is for guys but it is from the male perspective. that's nice compliment. i thought that was a terrific book it is sort of an internal journey played now the exotic locations. >> you said it started out when would you go on these sets to work, exotic locations, instead of hanging out with the crew or cast or something, would you sort o stay in that little wherever you were and go explore off by yourself. >> yeah i just found myself meandering off, movies would end, i would stay and continue traveling for longer and longer and i began eventually just traveling for travel sake and then i began to write about it for magazines and stuff. >> you win awards. >> go figure. >> go figure. >> the big thing, too you had trouble with relationships, couldn't figure out how to make them stick and you finally did. so, what was the answer there? >> you know, i figured things out on the road. some people go to therapy or have wine together. >> careful. >> it works. >> it works. >> for me, figuring stuff out
happens when i'm far away from home. i had this dilemma. i love this person and yet i have this other part of me that just wants to go. so how do i reconcile? >> how about taking her with you. >> that happens sometimes. >> here hears an idea. >> haven't thought of that one, kathy. it was sort of that reconciling those two aspects of myself. that push me, pull you, i love you, i got to go syndrome. >> you are happy now right? >> yeah, pretty good. today. >> how long have you been married? >> a little over a year. >> and they said it wouldn't last. >> congratulations. thanks for coming to see us. good luck with the book. still have one of the greatest smiles ever. >> a little bashful after all this time. coming up, hot hollywood hairstyles for the fall. >> really? >> yes, that's coming up. >> good morning. time for your weather channel forecast. we're taking a look across the country where there's going to be some showers. have to look pretty hard.
not as much as the last couple days. showers in the u.p. of michigan and florida. we're going to see cool spots and hot spots across the country. yellow showing the 60s and 70s for the northeast after a very chilly morning. possibly seeing some frost in some areas throughout parts of new england. afternoon still 60s and 70s, still hot in the southwest and warm in the pacific northwest with temperatures into the 80s in some cases. treasure valley in boise right around 90 degrees. chance for some showers, maybe a few storms worked in here throughout portions of the midwest, the great lakes area, also florida. we're going to see some more of those thunderstorms firing up throughout the course of the day as well. a little bit cooler in the west. looking for the yellow for the cooler area. higher elevations here and throughout portions to the north and the northern plains. and parts of the great lakes. highs only into the 60s. with this comes some changes, a system moving in, chance for some showers and storms. this will be for your saturday. we're going to see increasing
